July 15, 2014 - Pittsfield – Greylock Federal Credit Union is working with Mass Save ® sponsors, National Grid, Western Massachusetts Electric Company (WMECo), and Berkshire Gas, as a participating lender in the home energy saving program. As a participating lender through Mass Save, Greylock offers 0% interest consumer loans up to $15,000 for the purchase of home heating systems, windows, insulation and other home energy saving items.
Greylock President Marilyn L. Sperling said, “Greylock is pleased to partner with WMECo, National Grid and Berkshire Gas in the Mass Save program. By offering qualified borrowers 0% interest loans to purchase energy saving upgrades to their homes, we are doing our part to help people reduce their heating fuel costs while supporting community efforts to become ‘greener’ and save the environment.”
"For the HEAT loan program to be successful across our service area, we depend on the involvement of local lenders," said Bill Stack, WMECo's Energy Efficiency Spokesperson. “We're pleased Greylock Federal Credit Union will be there to assist our Western Mass. customers interested in making energy efficiency improvements to their homes."
In order to be eligible for a loan, those interested should contact Mass Save at 877-527-SAVE (7283) and complete a home energy assessment. Mass Save will determine if the applicant is eligible for the program. If so, they will issue a HEAT Loan Authorization Form.
After applicants apply to Mass Save and are made eligible, they can apply to Greylock to determine if they qualify for the 0% loan. Those interested are encouraged to apply for loan preapproval by calling Greylock’s mortgage department at (413) 236-4125 to set up an appointment with a loan officer.
"National Grid is proud to help its customers invest in their homes, making them more comfortable while reducing their energy costs," said Edward White, vice president of Customer Strategy and Environmental, National Grid. "Energy efficiency provides tangible benefits to our customers while also delivering economic and environmental benefits. Lenders like Greylock Federal Credit Union can help National Grid's customers to realize these benefits."
Berkshire Gas President and COO Karen Zink commented on the new partnership saying, "Berkshire Gas has long been committed to energy efficiency. We are thrilled to welcome Greylock as a financial partner that shares our commitment to a more energy efficient future for the people of Berkshire County. We appreciate their willingness to participate in this important program and their continued commitment to our community."
