Renovations are underway and credit union officials expect to move several teams to the location later this year.
“This location solves our long-standing need to consolidate numerous operations functions,” said Greylock President Marilyn Sperling.
“We have looked at more than a dozen locations and were pleased to obtain lease terms in Allendale that will actually decrease our real estate expenses while accommodating the long term growth of the credit union.”
Sperling said that as the credit union grew over the last 15 years, operational personnel have been scattered in three locations throughout Pittsfield.
“When the moves are complete, we will have a larger footprint with greater efficiency and lower costs.”
The Allendale site will also become a new central sales and processing site for Greylock Insurance Agency.
“For customers seeking insurance services downtown, we will continue to have several representatives at our 150 West Street headquarters,” said Agency President Kent Hudson.
“The Allendale space will provide a highly convenient option for Pittsfield residents on the eastern side of town as well as people commuting from Dalton, Cheshire, and other communities.”
In addition to the insurance presence, Greylock plans to move the following functions and departments to the Allendale space, representing about 75 employees in total:
- Deposit & Loan Operations
- Call Center
- Electronic Services
- Marketing
- Learning Center
Sperling pointed out that Greylock outgrew its 20,000 square-foot headquarters at 150 West Street much faster than anticipated.
“When we opened our headquarters in 1998, we had 125 employees and the credit union held $404 million in assets,” Sperling said.
“We thought the building would accommodate 20 years of growth, but by 2004, we had completely filled the building.
Today we have 245 employees and $1.2 billion in assets, so the search for workable, affordable operations space has become a top priority.”
Greylock Insurance Agency Assistant Vice President Lori Goodell said the Agency has also demonstrated consistent growth.
“We have sustained steady growth above industry standards,” said Goodell.
“We are excited about this new location.
Our existing Pittsfield offices were within blocks of each other downtown.
We want to provide outstanding convenience for our customers, and they will now have greater choice in the Pittsfield area.
No other agency in the county offers as many options for personal service.”
